RT1 High Power UHF or VHF Analog Business Radio

So here is the thing: The products are great! The support is great! Do yourself a favor and go ahead and just buy the programming cable with these radios. We run an office in New York City in the heart of Times Square. We need or sales reps on the street to be able to communicate with our offices to make sure of ticket availability before walking a customer to our office for a purchase. We are surrounding by sky scrapers. We were having a MASSIVE issue with the 3W H777 models...they would stop working within half a block. So we bought these thinking "stronger power"...and then realized we needed to reprogram them to work with the H777's. We not only adjusted the frequencies for the channels, but we set up two private channels for managers. We also adjusted the squelch to the lowest setting and VOILA! These radios work AMAZINGLY well and transmit clearly for about a 20 block radius...which is kind of a big deal in Times Square/New York City. Here's what you do: A). Buy the cable with the radios. B). Install the driver for the actual cable from the disk provided C). Download the software for these specific radios D). Use winzip to extract the file to a new file on your desktop. E). Open the folder containing the program and install the file ending in .exe F). Open the new program which should appear under your start menu as TC...it has a little radio icon G). Attach your USB cable to your computer...skip the windows driver update because you have already installed the driver...just wait for windows to complete the "initialization" of the cable...and pay attention because windows will tell you which "COM" port has been assigned to the cable. H). Plug the radio end of the cable into the radio and turn the power on the radio on. I). Go to "settings" in the TC3000 program and set the COM port to the same com port assigned to the radio J). Click on the menus until you find "read from radio" and go ahead and click OK...the radio has no password...so just leave it blank K). Now program your radio! (There is an excellent guide on YouTube by a guy in England which explains a lot of the radios basics and why things are set the way they are in settings. the guy's name is James Fletcher.) http://youtu.be/Z0Lan54TL0A So that's it! It's a pretty good little radio! I'll try to update in 5 months when it is winter and see how they work in the cold...right now they work pretty well in the heat. I dinged the company a star because the programming cable and MUCH BETTER DIRECTIONS should accompany these radios when they are shipped...ALL of the time.

Works great don't call the radio junk if you do not know how to use it

I have one it last all day and night moitoring transmit is very strong holds up!!! quality made ty retevis maybe they ll make a rt- 2 same features more channels !

Love the walkies they have come in very handy

I've been using these radios for farm and ranch operation. Have been able to talk up to 15 miles. Very happy with them. Only thing I've noticed is sometime you have to activate the talk button for a second before talking.

Great Radios, but have gone thru Two programming cables that amazon reccomended for these radios. First the cheap bafeong with cd, NO GOOD! Then I tried the bafeong without cd and the computer (windows 10) and (XP 2 seperate computers) will pick up the usb but says there is a bad connection! Wanted to purchase more of these radios, but if I can't program my own freq into them, then no scence in buying more! HELP!

They worked great right out of the box. We did not need to program.I'm in love with the commercial look & solid feel

I love these radios! I tried them out! However, I just opened my box today as I was busy at work since I bought them. When I went to charge my radio, i realized one of my radios chargers bottoms was broken off and is not fixable. I would love a replacement charger. Once this issue is fixed, i Will change my rating back to 5 stars. EDIT: They sent me a new charger quickly and sent me some extras as well! Very good service!
