Emergency Prep

EMERGENCY PREP

Preparing for SHTF means more than just stockpiling food. It’s more than just storing water. It also includes good SHTF communications.
Being able to send and receive critical news and knowledge about what’s going. Even if you are literally “in the dark” it doesn’t mean your SHTF communications have to be. Having a guaranteed way of communicating with others in the worst of times is an essential prepper responsibility.
These walkie-talkies are specially selected for disaster emergencies.

Walkie-talkies, also known as GMRS/FRS radios, are great for short-range SHTF communications. They work best for a small individual group like your survival coalition.
They don’t work for mass communication or long-range communications. It’s an ideal option for a family wanting to stay in contact as they move around a small property or local area.

Unlicensed Two-Way Radio
Unlicensed Two-Way Radio
  • Family Radio Service (FRS): FRS is licensed by rule. This means an individual license is not required to operate an FRS radio provided you comply with the rules. You may operate an FRS radio regardless of your age, and for personal or for business use if you are not a representative of a foreign government.
  • Multi-Use Radio Service (MURS): MURS is licensed by rule. This means an individual license is not required for an entity to operate a MURS transmitter if it is not a representative of a foreign government and if it uses the transmitter in accordance with the MURS rules outlined in 47 C.F.R. Part 95 Subpart J. There is no age restriction regarding who may operate an MURS transmitter.

  • AA Battery: Use universal batteries of AA or AAA specifications. Dependable and long-lasting, AA Batteries for many of the devices you use on a daily basis. When emergencies come, you can get them from remotes and flashlights to smoke detectors and toys.
  • Precharged AA Battery: The battery included with Radio itself is a precharged AA battery. Can be used multiple times, saving costs.
Simple operation, easy to learn
Simple operation, easy to learn
  • Novice for Beginners: Prepping is a marathon, not a sprint. At the beginning of the program you will need to learn a lot about selecting ingredients, making food, storing fresh water, first aid, understanding local natural disasters, and more. A full-featured Two Way Radio takes a lot of time and is not appropriate. Instead, Novice Two Way Radio is more suitable for its simplicity and ease of learning..
  • Young teens and children: If you have young teens and children in your home, Novice Two Way Radio is a must. It allows you to keep in touch with them. So that you can be reunited as soon as possible.
Affordable Communicatio

Full-power Radio and High-Power System
Full-power Radio and High-Power System
  • The transmitter output power of mobile, repeater and base stations must not exceed 50 Watts.
  • The transmitter output power of fixed stations must not exceed 15 Watts.
FCC GMRS License
Full-power Radio and High-Power System
  • General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS): An FCC license is required to operate GMRS system. Licenses are issued for a ten-year term and can be renewed between 90 days prior to the expiration date and up to the actual expiration date of the license. After a license expires, an individual must request a new GMRS license.
You may apply for a GMRS license if you are 18 years or older and not a representative of a foreign government. If you receive a license, any family member, regardless of age, can operate GMRS stations and units within the licensed system.
The FCC service rules for the GMRS are located in 47 C.F.R. Part 95 Subpart E. You can find information about GMRS licensing in the rules.

Emergency Services Two-Way Radios & High-power Base Station

HF UHF VHF wide frequency band
HF UHF VHF wide frequency band
  • HF UHF&VHF three frequency bands: Use VHF band outdoors; UHF band is more suitable for cities. HF band is used for long-distance communication.
  • Full frequency band, get more communication opportunities: FCC requires various models to have their own frequency range. This makes different types of two-way radios unable to communicate. It is a big disadvantage when disaster strikes. UHF&VHF full frequency band can be compatible with more walkie-talkie types. Disaster-related information can be obtained from others.
  • HF long distance communications: (3 to 30MHz) provide cost-effective, non-line-of-sight communications, secure means of communications, reaching far beyond the radio communication range of VHF radio waves.
Full-power Radio and High-Power System

  • Mobile Radio: The maximum transmit power of Mobile Radio can reach 50W. His communication distance is very far. When disaster strikes, there is a car as a vehicle to communicate when the travel distance is longer. Or when you need to relocate to a non-hazardous area, communication is very helpful.
  • Base station: In an emergency, the base station is allowed to transmit power up to 200W. This is a terrifying power, which can greatly expand the communication distance and signal strength. At the same time, its power consumption is amazing. If you have a generator, you can choose it.
Multi-standard integration
Multi-standard integration
  • Digital and analog compatible: Digital and analog two-way radio signals are allowed to be mixed. In an emergency, the supplies are incomplete, and the equipment you use may be mixed. Mixed use allows you not to miss any information.
  • Multiple power supply options: full-band support SSB, CW, RTTY, AM, FM.These communication methods can travel far. Very helpful for long-distance communication.
Multiple power supply methods
Multi-standard integration
  • 5-12-24vDC power supply: USB charging method uses 5v; battery and private car use 12v power supply. The truck uses 24v power supply. A variety of power supply methods can be used in bad situations..
  • 110v~260v Wide voltage AC power supply: When the disaster came, I was lucky to get a generator. 110v~260v wide voltage self-adaption can be well adapted to various types of generators.

Emergency Prep

Should there be a catastrophic event that may interrupt normal routes of communication, two way radios or walkie talkies may be the only available means of contacting others. Whether it is a major weather disaster or apocalyptic, SHTF scenario, when the cell phones, landlines and satellites go down, the last, and quite possibly only source of short and long range communications will be the open airwaves.

When shopping for a two way radio prepper kit, the following features will be most important:

Range – Range is absolutely crucial to emergency communications, especially in sparsely populated areas or if the disaster encompasses a wide area. A higher powered model can often provide more range, especially in urban or rough terrain. A removable antenna is also very critical to range, as it allows you to swap it for fine tuning or attach an external antenna that can be moved around or set at a higher elevation. A radio with more power and a removable antenna can actually provide much greater range than a model with higher wattage alone.

Battery Life - The importance of backup power during any emergency or catastrophic event cannot be understated, and in the event of an extended outage or complete loss of the power grid, keeping your radio charged and operational may be vital to survival. Look for models with extremely long battery life that can be charged and/or powered by vehicle DC voltage, plus the ability to operate on standard AA or AAA batteries when needed.

Durability – Reliable communications are a lifeline to others in any emergency, so it is very important that your radios can stand up to the rigors of such an event. Look for a radio with solid construction, greater durability and weatherproofing that can take the stress of extended use. A radio with an ingress protection rating of IP54 or higher is recommended.
