Perfect Radio!Reviewed in United States on Jan 10,2021Im using this radio since 1 weeks. Radio firmware is very stability and cover is very strength all of damage. Thanks for all product process in the factory employee. Youre the best! Note : i have to a lot of amateur radio.not.only retevis rt82.After still 3 years of use, this radio works like the first day.Reviewed in United States on Nov 30,2020I have two Retevis radios, the RT82 and the Ailunce HD1. Really I can't determine now which of this two radios could be the best, both are incredible like the first day. The RT82 was designed for a hard use I guess, many of the issues that a lot of friends of mine that they own the 2017 have, my radio don't have at all. I tried for a short time the EXT firmware, but I decided to return to the official firmware. It have a lot of features that exceded by far my needs, meanwhile the HD1 have the essentials functions and a simpler interface. The battery is the original that packaged the radio when I bought it, today still works for long tie, quite longer than my FT70D, and many of these tiny Ham radios. The output power and the receiver sensitivity still great, like the first day. The short antenna performs really nice, never i needed to think in a more gain alternative. The case, the antenna connector, the antenna plastic shield are perfect after three years of use. The manufacturing quality of the radio versus the actual price still makes it a perfect option, no matter is an old radio. Retevis has an extraordinary and constant support for this radio, no matter its age, the last firmware its easily found in the factory web page, and never I needed to search in external sites, like many of the others Chinese brands. The GPS still acquire global position under clear sky, with excellent precision. No matter its age for me is today one of the best alternatives. 73Great radio to get started with DMRReviewed in United States on Mar 28,2020Purchased as my first DMR rig, I was looking for a unit that had GPS capability, as well as VHF and UHF on both DMR and FM. This unit fits the bill perfectly. Included programming cable worked great with my Windows 7 machine and I was able to download the software from the Retevis website. Seems like Retevis is really going out to help Hams get on DMR, which is great. After using this radio for a week, I will say that programming DMR from scratch is not easy, however it is doable. The Retevis software is easy to work with however I will recommend a large monitor. Using a 12" laptop for programming is possible, but not easy. I know a lot of folks complain about the trackball, but once you are used to using it, it's really not that bad. You can program side buttons to do the same functions so it's not necessary to use the trackball. It's semi-protected from accidental use by the circle with arrows around it. Only semi-protected though; it is easy to brush with your fingers when grabbing the radio. Reception using the stock antenna is on par for the antenna of it's size, on FM. On DMR reception is incredibly clear, as it's digital. Audio is nice & loud on the internal speaker; I've had no trouble listening either indoors or outdoors. For me, the radio is a tad large however I'm used to a UV-5R which is substantially smaller. It's definitely solid though and the buttons have a great feel. The screen is nice, bright and easy to read; however it is not dimmable (currently) so iFour StarsReviewed in United States on Mar 28,2020Can't beat it for the priceBest radio to transition to Dmr and have a dual mode HT at hand.Reviewed in United States on Mar 28,2020Excellent radio, not only dual band ( programable) but dual mode. Perfect transition from analog system to the digital world. Code plugs are available online and easy to customize. Price and accessories make it a no brainer for any ham looking for a do it all handy talkie.I find the RT82 easy to use after a short learning periodReviewed in United States on Mar 28,2020I find the RT82 easy to use after a short learning period. My audio reports are good and the audio I get from the radio are very good. It feels good and sturdy in my hand. I like being able to monitor/talk on both VHF and UHF, DMR and Analog. I use CPS2017 software to program it and seems to work great. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that so far I have been unable to find where to purchase just the battery for the RT82. UPDATE: Changed to 5 stars, since I was able to get a spare battery.HTReviewed in United States on Mar 28,2020Analogico y digitalSolid build, great customer serviceReviewed in United States on Mar 28,2020This is one chunky little radio, very solid feel in the hand and very good audio quality. When you get it don't forget to load the current firmware (it's easy). Also be aware the programming software will occasionally forget to save to file the contents of a zone, so be aware and keep extra backups on hand. I'm using it on both amateur bands, DMR and also on the marine band for kayaking. I had an issue with an external mic and contacted their customer service and they quickly resolved the problem, good folks.Great radio, hard to programReviewed in United States on Mar 28,2020I really like the radio, but it has a really steep learning curve for programming.I find the radio to be greatReviewed in United States on Mar 28,2020Received, inboxed and field programmed this radio; did not have computer handy . I find the radio to be great, so far! It is a great design and packaging a great size to hold on to, just an overall great form factor. Using it on amateur frequencies for my groups 'Net' night last night , was told I have a good strong clear signal with the rubber ducky antenna that came with it , much stronger signal than my RT23 5W which I had used previously to talk to the same people. Hitting repeaters 16 to 20 miles away with the rubber ducky. Was told my signal came in full quieting and was totally impressed with both receive and transmit of this unit . Did have some trouble "field programming ", can only get it to lock in one repeater at a time, or one simplex frequency at a time ; not using the computer to program it seems to override the previous channel I had programmed. I am sure that it is just a matter of not using the computer program to enter the frequency information. Can only program on Repeater or simplex channel in “field” without computer by design. Definitely need computer for DMR, their software is easy to use. Have yet to be able to find a code plug for it; but have programmed over 100 Repeaters and simplex channels both in DMR and Analog. Nice form factor and easy radio to use.
