RadarI find the RT82 easy to use after a short learning periodReviewed in United States on Oct 16,2018I find the RT82 easy to use after a short learning period. My audio reports are good and the audio I get from the radio are very good. It feels good and sturdy in my hand. I like being able to monitor/talk on both VHF and UHF, DMR and Analog. I use CPS2017 software to program it and seems to work great. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that so far I have been unable to find where to purchase just the battery for the RT82. UPDATE: Changed to 5 stars, since I was able to get a spare battery.Momof4slugrzGreat radio, hard to programReviewed in United States on Oct 16,2018I really like the radio, but it has a really steep learning curve for programming.J.W.this is a great little DMR radioReviewed in United States on Oct 16,2018The trackball is tricky to get used to and is a bit out of place on a portable radio. I would subtract a star for the trackball but, honestly, this is a great little DMR radio. Good battery life, well built, and the programming cable was included which makes it easy to set up. Just go to the Retevis website to download the latest software and firmware, then build your code plug and go. Don’t forget to register for your DMR ID so that you can access the system (yes, you need an ID beyond your FCC call sign to get on the digital nets). In analog mode, this radio works about as well as any of the new crop of budget radios. No complaints at all.MiroslavFirst impressions with RT82Reviewed in United States on Nov 17,2017?I have recently obtained a new RT82 with GPS capability. The first feelings are very impressive, particularly because of new features I did not have earlier in my other (and rather older) handy radios. Yes, I know that programming a ham radio device by a computer and via USB cable is more an more common today, however it was a valuable new experience for me. It was really nice from Retevis to provide the programming cable as a gift with the radio, so a new user could start playing with RT82 as soon as the package is opened.
