RT73 Dual Band GPS Mini DMR Mobile Radio

Cool mini mobile DMR radio. Have only used it analog so far, received a good report on how it sounds. Have found a mike gain setting and we will see. Has a place on the side to plug in a different spkr mic, will try that , too. Actual size is closer to 4 3/4" x 3" x 1 7/8".

This radio has potential. It is a true mini mobile, so small that it is about the size of a control head (removable front). That is it's real draw even though it has just 20 Watt RF output. For DMR use, it works pretty well. It has a very small display that would be difficult to see in a vehicle and its analog FM operation is annoying. The radio is marketed to the commercial/business/public service arenas but not to US Amateur Radio community. It does not have the part 90 sticker but will transmit there. But it does support Ham Radio and is legally able to operate on the UHF and VHF ham bands. That was my interest in this radio, so the out of band operation was not important to me. Special mention of Retrivis customer service: It was surprisingly good. A China based rep Emailed me and phoned as well and over the course of 7-10 days, I was provided with tips and they wanted my codeplug for testing. So hopefully in time this radio will mature. My Evaluation (no technical specs testing) There are many issues with this radio but much of it could be fixed with better CPS and Firmware. I am fairly picky on radio operation and performance but cost is also part of of the evaluation for overall value. If you use it for DMR only and are willing to wait for CPS/firmware improvements and the cost stays below $200, this could be the answer to the removable control heads for DMR mobiles for Hams. This is a good radio. Seems to do what it says. APRS modulation can be a bit unstable. It seems my Kenwood and yaesu don't like to decode it directly but Digi decided it. It's a good radio for analog and DMR. They also seem to be rolling out some firmware updates, so that's promising. I like the length of the mic cable, especially considering it's for a mobile app and it's probably mounted quite far from your head Also, you can use the mic as a speaker, which is nice too.

Really a nice little (very little) radio. Feels price worthy if you want 20W and a mobile radio. Good sound. I now use it as my first radio at home and in my car just because it is a DMR and FM. Only sad thing is the software. It was not stabile but I loaded Radioddittys DB25-D and then also got function buttons 4-7 at the microphone. It is the same radio. Retevis had a better price with the combo with the magnetic antenna. Good!

i ordered while the on a holiday and theymailed as soon as they was back and they put up with me messaging then alot radio arrived quicker than expected radion came in 10 days and is well worth they money ive spent ive have had lots of good reports from friends well worth it

Really good transeiver to be in contact with mobile or stationary. The hardware is very stable, the software takes a bit of getting used to, but I think setting up a code plug for amateur radio is by and large not easy. However, the RT73 is easier to use than many other devices on the market. The feel of the device leaves nothing to be desired. The device is constantly being developed with new software. It is therefore important that you install new firmware and otherwise use the latest Retevis software. The dimensions are excellent, fits really well for installation in any car. The operation for mobile operation is also very good. The function keys can be adapted to all imaginable needs. I am happy with the purchase and would generally recommend the device to others!

Greetings from South Africa :D I recently installed my RT73 in my vehicle. Due to the compact size i was able to fin a spot to place my RT73. Works really well and thanks to regulour firmware releases the RT73 just keep getting better. I love it!

This is a good little radio. Does not have the bells and whistles as some of the others. CPS can be confusing to some. I use one in my vehicle and one in the house. Both work the way I want.
