I have used these a few times now while camping. I have an autistic son who is is Boy Scouts and can get extremely over whelmed in new places. This has allowed me to give him more freedom since he is getting older with having to hover over him. He feels safe knowing I am just a push of the button away from him. The water proof aspect also works well for us since he is still a young boy that is rough on everything.
These are great for kids or adults, I’ve used these plenty of times going fishing on kayaks they work well even in bad conditions. They have great range, especially over the water. Battery life is good. They are rechargeable but also run on AA batteries which is great during hurricanes or power outages super easy to use. They also have weather report options. Great value overall.
For the money they work well. A lot of good features. Able to talk to other brand radios just fine. We used them in the Gulf of Mexico while swimming to talk to family on the beach. The radios were submerged often. The only issue we encountered was the mic holes would have to be blown out from time to time so we could be heard when talking. Battery life seems good as we charged every nught but they were never more than half dead. The NOAA radio has somewhat weak reception but I don’t buy them for that feature although it could be useful.
Love that these float and are water proof. I send them on the paddle boards with my kids.
