Works and sounds great! Did have to unlock it to have access to all frequencies, but it was easy to follow the YouTube video I found online.

For what it is, this is a great little unit. I haven't done extensive testing on it like some others on here, but it works as intended. I live in the Bay area surrounded by hills and trees and I'm still able to communicate with family members 7 miles away using RA87 with both houses surrounded by trees.

Great basic dual band rig. Programming is easy, display is easy to read, both TX and RX audio are excellent. Tests excellent on the service monitor with harmonics

Excellent, takes a while to figure out, use YouTube for help on programming I got a desk mic to match the radio as a base station.

Great wallow, we use these for a large warehouse and have zero complaints. Great purchase.

It is good for the money spent. It is a pretty big learning process. Programing by hand is a chalange. But i would buy it again.

First, this radio is very good - forget the price. It works well. Second, the quality is also very good for the price. I was very impressed with the quality of the unit and the mic. It includes the programming cable. I used CHIRP for programming the frequencies & repeater. I suggest the Retivis software (fre online) for all other options.

Using in my company work truck for ham radio for weather net motioning, Right size to fit in with all the other equipment we carry and plugs into lighter plug.

I bought this RA87 because I could not get 2 radios to work as a repeater without duplexer. So I got this and it works very well. easy to program and setup. Feels solid and built well.

Gets the job done in a small little package. Perfect for a mobile install or on the go kit. The best feature in my opinion is that you can set the audio to play through the radio body and the hand mic at the same time which makes it great for mobile use in noisy environments.

A compact, easy to use, easy to program GMRS repeater. Not really much else to say. It just works. Comes with everything you need to run it on AC power or DC in a portable setup.

This is a nice radio at a reasonable price. From the Retevis store . Relatively easy to program. Able to hit repeaters 25 miles out with high power. Mine came with the programming cable.

Rugged, good working radio in a small form factor that won't be a big intrusion on your vehicle's interior. Constantly receive good signal reports on this radio and at a price that's half what other comparable radio's cost. Manufacturer has offices in the USA so there's no shipping back to Chine should there ever be an issue.

This radio is easy to program. A bit tricky to learn but when you do, smooth operation. Great price and I use a magmount rooftop antenna for great reach with clarity.

My error. Many apologies. Yes, the radios ARE programmed for the repeater. You must be aware that there is a break in the channel numbers. My fault. (Well, okay, the documentation is no help. Thank you YouTube) The system works great. The repeater has an excellent design. A good value with good performance.

Just as good as any of the more expensive name brand radios. Every gives me great signal reports. If you half a brain, these are a snap to program. I like the first one so much I bought a second one.

Absolutely love it so far. Super easy to install and remove if you want to take it on the go. Would easily recommend.

I have had this Retevis RA-87 for about a month now, and it works great. Microphone is a bit light and plasticy is my only complaint.

I recently purchased 3 Retevis RA87 radios. I installed one in my truck and I programmed the other two for Relay Mode as a GMRS Repeater. During the programming of the Mobile radio, and again during the Repeater build, I had some technical questions so I contacted Retevis. I am very impressed with the support services I received from Retevis. I am also impressed with how fast Retevis responds and delivers support. In my most recent contact, Support offered to review a copy of my programming/codeplug, as I did not fully understand the Channel line choice fields and how they were affecting the Repeater. I emailed a copy of the codeplug to Retevis Support and they reviewed it and arranged the options for best operation. After installation, the radio is testing out/working just like I wanted it to. This is an inexpensive yet very effective GMRS radio. Here is what you can expect: 100 channels on the left bank, 100 channels on the right bank. Chirp compatibility / programability with cable included. Good scanning capability. Squelch knob or per-channel squelch programming. Low/High power selected from front panel. High power output reaches 40w in the 462.xxxx frequencies, and about 28w in the 467.xxxx frequencies (repeater inputs). Signal reports from a repeater 63 miles away from me state that I sound great, full quieting, minimal background static, rich voice. The speaker is loud, I can even hear it in my old Bronco with the windows down and the oversized exhaust rumbling away. You can *listen* on any frequency from 400MHZ to 480MHZ (transmit only on GMRS frequencies, of course). Channels can be named up to 6 characters.in the end, you get a high powered (nearly 40w) GMRS radio with fast scanning, 200 memory channels, repeater compatibility, great sound quality.

I want a high powered repeater. The RT97S is a bit underpowered for me. I saw this combination and saw a blogger’s test video and I thought it was great. After purchasing it, I now mainly use it as a mobile radio. When our local group is together, I will form a relay with it. As said, the power is between 20w-24w, it would be better if you sell the simple stand like in the second picture.

I join a cross-country team in our local area. The team regularly goes to places with few people for camping or adventure. I saw the RA87 among the many GMRS Mobile Radios. It was so different and our fleet loved it for its high power and repeater capabilities. In the end, we chose this combination because it is cheap and can be installed on the car and used as a platform while driving. After arriving at the destination, a repeater can be formed. We each have a license, which is so convenient.

I have just started to contact GMRS, and there is still a lot to learn. I have purchased many gmrs products from retevis and my wife and I just love the HA1G. My friend Kevin purchased the RA87 repeater as an emergency device and I was really shocked by the range. My HA1G can also connect to the RA87 to communicate with others. I decided to purchase one as my home emergency device as well since it comes apart and can be mounted to my car as well.

I like this repeater combo, I can transmit on 22 GMRS channels. I plan to use this as a personal radio with non-commercial applications. I prefer the 50 watt one, but the price of the RA87 is right. Another feature I prefer is the blue screen, which is easier on the eyes.
