Answer 1: With a power of 2W, generally speaking, RT22 license free two way radio will reach 0.5-2 miles. However, please note that the communication range will be affected by the environment and terrain.
Question 2: Can RT22 be used with RT27?
Answer 2: Yes, RT22 can be used with RT27. The RT22 small walkie talkies has 16 FRS channels, while the RT27 rugged 2-way radio has 22 FRS channels. They can directly talk with each other on Channel 1 to Channel 5.
Question 3: If I buy many sets of Retevis RT22, will they pair up with others?
Answer 3: Yes, RT22 FRS radios have been programmed to the same frequency and CTCSS before shipment, so they can work together when out of the box.
Question 4: How to turn on the VOX function?
Answer 4: RT22 handheld 2-way radio has a VOX function to realize hands-free operations. To turn on VOX, first switch the channel to channel 7, then turn off the radio. Press and hold the “+” button and turn on the radio at the same time. At this time, you will hear the voice prompt “VOX ON,” indicating that VOX is on. If you want to turn off the VOX feature, repeat the same steps.

We love these walkies. We own 6 and use them every time we ski. Have always been happy with the range, battery life, ability to stay on private channels and the ease of use. It's been a set-it-and-forget-it kind of device for us. We just turn them on and go. Very reliable.
Used in the Catskills over a max 1.5 mile range. Easy to use basic features - even my 6 yr old could operate.
Good quality for the price
Compact, lightweight, dependable and long range. I have a kindergarten and use them to communicate with teachers, they’re compact so they can carry the radios on their uniform pockets with no problem. They’re very long range, we tried them a couple of streets away and we still heard messages clearly.
This is the third walkie pack (2nd from Retevis) that I've purchased for my doggie daycare in the last year. The design is the winner here with short, non-detachable antennae that don't seem like they will break off. Smaller then some other models, the belt clip is much appreciated and allows staff to put on a t-shirt collar or a belt without fear it will fall off.
Great walkie, I’ve used it for parties and different church events. Great distance, clear sound good reception.. very compact so it’s not in the way or anything and lightweight
