An antenna is a device used to radiate or receive electromagnetic waves. In operation, the high-frequency oscillation energy generated by the transmitter is converted into electromagnetic wave energy by the transmitting antenna and radiated in a predetermined direction. This energy then propagates through a medium to the receiving antenna, which converts the received electromagnetic wave energy back into high-frequency oscillation energy and sends it to the receiver, completing the entire process of radio wave transmission.
An omnidirectional antenna is an antenna that exhibits essentially no-directional radiation characteristics in the horizontal plane, but directional radiation characteristics in the vertical plane.
