As you would expect from Retevis, the radio is very well made and of high quality, the features are extensive and shipping via Retevis is unproblematic. The firmware used could be improved, I miss the 1750Hz activation tone for relays, a major flaw here in Europe, as well as an extended scan function (max. 16 channels are too few) and better readability/contrast in some menus (CTCSS setting for example). I am looking forward to the integration in Chirp. I can recommend the product.
These were amazing to have in the cruise. Made communication a breeze. Volume is good, great value for the price. Best feature is that they are rechargeable.

Everything works fine, trustworthy HT
That 1.77 inch color screen is crystal clear. Easy to read even in bright sunlight.
First thing to know is that this thing is built for quality and longevity. It’s easy to use and offers some great features.
Will definitely be back!
This is a great ham radio. I've been listening to a lot of chatter with it without actually being able to fully operate it as I figured out I need a ham radio license to get full use out of it. Overall the battery life is nice
I am thoroughly impressed with the performance of this radio, particularly considering its price. The audio quality is exceptionally clear, and the radio's design is robust.
What I Like: - Easy to use and operate, especially programming - Long battery life - Good range/distance. No problem using within a mile. - Comes with a variety of accessories.
the HA1UV is easier to program from the keypad than the FT-65. I think the larger screen and improved menu structure both played a role.
Type C charging is so convenient. I can use the same cable as my phone which is great for traveling light.
The HA1UV handheld ham radio is awesome. I remember the ham radios of my childhood. It was like being exposed to other worlds in my own world. It brought back memories. This is still very new to me and a big learning curve. This little device has a belt clip for easy portability and a range of 5 miles, according to it. It comes with an AC plug and has a long battery life. The readings are clear. It's a reliable device. I've been visiting stores and watching various YouTube videos to see it in action. It's a fun and useful skill to have.
Nice radio. My friend looked it over. Seems you need a ham radio license to operate it. So, in the process of getting one. Overall its good radio, and holds a charge a long time. Great value for your money.
Great radio for the price point Battery last long easy program Great for ham users
Really good AMATEUR dual band HT. I compared it to my Icom IC-T10 which is about 3.5 times the price, and is a similar radio (direct conversion, IP67, etc). The radio actually has a very tight front end and isn't overloaded, a sensitive receiver, a simple to use interface. The Icom has a tiny display and this is where the Ailunce shines: a bright, crisp clear display. I turned off the "dual standby" crap- running it this way is more logical. I downloaded the free CPS and use the included cable to read and write my codeplug to the radio. The only shortcoming is the scan rate, at around 5 channels per second, it's a little behind other Japanese radios like my T10. That being said, it is fine for most people. It has a solid feel, the PTT button reminds me a lot of my LMR radios like my Moto XPR7550e. Receiver audio is superbly loud and the volume and channel knobs are large and have a tactile feel. The radio has a universal connector similar to Motorola radios, it's done this way to maintain watertight rating. The Icom uses their standard 2-pin connector and you MUST have the cover installed with the captive screws to maintain water proof rating.
Update to previous review. I had a minor issue with the programming cable that came with the radio. Retevis customer service was very helpful and they replaced the cable for me.
Build Quality This thing is almost the same build quality as commercial radios I've been exposed to like Tait. It's definitely way better than the Baofengs out there. The biggest reason I bought this one is I was looking for a waterproof radio. There are plenty of people out there on YouTube that have tested that and I have no reason to think it wouldn't stand up to the kind of water I might encounter.
Of course it's not a toy You can tell when you hold it in your hand that it is a solid piece of equipment and is made to last and withstand shocks and it is also IP67 certified and assures us that it does not enter dust and that it can withstand splashes or even a quick immersion in water and for outdoor activities, which is where we are going to use this product and where the climate can change from one moment to the next, it provides a degree of confidence in the equipment. It works in dual band (VHF and UHF), allowing it to be used in different situations and with different communication groups. The sub-PTT function is also useful for quickly switching between two channels, which is practical if you are coordinating a team or need to use several frequencies. As for the battery, it lasts long enough, with its 2800mAh capacity, it can be used for hours without having to worry about recharging every time, which in emergency situations or outdoors is very important to take into account. As for the audio, it is clear and powerful, it can be heard well even in noisy environments. The programming can be done by PC, which allows us to customize channels and other advanced options with a much faster and simpler interface than if we do it from the device. Although to begin with, it may take a little practice to set everything up correctly, once you get the hang of it, it's not complicated.
Still learning the manual. Sound quality is very good. Instruction manual was easy to understand and also found some info on YouTube. Includes belt clip. Includes programming cable.
The HA1UV is a solid, affordable, and powerful radio. It offers clear audio, good range, and a durable design. Programming is simple and much better than the Baofeng UV5R. Battery life is impressive, making it a great choice for beginners and experienced users alike. Highly recommended to anyone looking for an affordable but powerful radio!
I bought this to add to my growing collection of things I have always wanted and may also come in handy. So, I didn't buy this to go completely crazy and geek out on all of it's features. I just wanted a ham radio that would receive and maybe provide some entertainment value. Also, to have it on hand in case of a major emergency. And here I am now geeking out by all of it's features.
If the screen looks scratched it is the screen protector and can be removed. If you are a first responder and need to transmit you can unlock the frequency by first turning the radio on, holding the top button and the Pitt button while turning the radio on. You will receive a message confirming your radio is unlocked. This radio is a must have!
For under $70 you can't find a better HT. This is a HAM BAND ONLY transmit, no GMRS, no part 90, it is a true HAM radio with transmit range only in the VHF and UHF HAM bands.
I am very happy with my HA1UV. It is built very well and feels like a Motorola. The programming software is good
Très professionnel, la batterie peut être chargée sur secteur...génial. Je n'ai pas encore testé la portée, mais différents canaux fonctionnent bien, Super Super bien, l'effet d'écoute est très bon avec un casque, super. Des produits de haute qualité
