I recently grabbed the Retevis HD2 during their sale, and wow—what a steal! These rugged little devices deliver crystal-clear audio even in noisy environments. The battery life is insane—lasting 2 days on a single charge during my camping trip.  For under 150(originally300+), this is unbeatable for outdoor adventures or team projects. If you need reliable comms without breaking the bank, jump on this deal before it’s gone. Zero regrets—it’s a 10/10 for value and performance!

Programming the HD2 was straightforward, especially with the software provided. Once set up, the audio quality was crystal clear on both analog and digital modes. The dual-band capability is a huge plus, and it transitions seamlessly between DMR and FM. Battery life is another highlight—I can use it all day without worrying about recharging. The solid battery pack locks securely, and the overall design feels ergonomic in hand, even during extended use.

Its been a long time waiting for a dual band, AES-256 encryption capable, IP67 rated DMR radio at a good price point. This radio is superb. I have programmed DMR talkgroups into the radio without a computer. That is correct, No Codeplug. It is very easy to program via the front panel & save them to channels. DMR ID contacts can be uploaded if you want that. Otherwise you will only see the DMR ID number of the station you are talking to. Audio reports as well as parrot tests have been great. The battery life is outstanding with a USB C chargeable 3,200 Mah battery. It also includes a drop in charging cradle. The radio is built like a tank and the display is simple and very clear. I would certainly buy this radio again.

I have a Retevis HA1UV analog radio and loved it so much I bought the HD2 so I had 02 DMR radios (the 1st DMR radio is another brand). The HD2 checks all the boxes at 1/2 the price of its competition. Dual band, Dual time a lot, waterproof, USB-C charging, and mine came with a Bluetooth earbud!!! Once you get over doing DMR codeplugs you will enjoy DMR radios and this HD2 radio with be you daily driver.

The GPS functionality on these DMR radios works flawlessly for our search operations

Well, this is a really impressive device. It has a lot of features that I have never used on a radio before and I feel like I need to take a class to learn how to use it. It will be fun to learn all of these features. This is my first DMR radio so the learning curve will be steep. Well built and durable. I have always used dual band HT so this one is special. But it is DMR which is its best feature. I will use it when I travel as there are no DMR repeaters near me. I also need to buy a hotspot. It has both analog and digital modes. The output power can reach up to 10W. It also has GPS. The battery life is good. It runs on a rechargeable battery and it comes with a charger. What else is in the box? You get the radio, antenna, battery, belt clip, charger, power cord, and programming cable. You can download the software from the Radioddity website. The software is easy to find and the file size is only 3.4MB. The screen can be customized to your needs. You can set your call sign to appear on the radio you are contacting. It offers private calls between radios and much more. I'm looking forward to using it more as I learn all of its features. 73!

Bought the HD2 for my husband who loves outdoor adventures - this radio has been a game-changer! The crystal-clear audio cuts through wind noise during his motorcycle rides, and the military-grade durability survives his rough handling. He especially loves the long battery life for weekend camping trips. 10/10 would gift again!

I haven't used it all yet but I can already tell there are a lot of things I like about this radio over my HD1. It seems to be better built and assembled. I like the look of it, it looks a lot more solid than the HD1. I also like that it has a variety of different output power levels instead of just a simple high/low like most radios. The quickest way for me to test it out was to tune the VFO to the normal FM mode on my cross-band repeater, the sound quality was great, the speaker was clear and loud, and the volume control was great. There are a lot of button customization options. The battery lasted a full day easily. Now I just need to turn on my DMR hotspot and start to explore the deeper features. So far it looks like a great radio. I'm pretty sure this radio will be a daily radio for me at home.

Perfect radio for what I needed.

These DMR HT radios have become essential equipment for our disaster response drills

We trust these radios for mission-critical communications without hesitation.

I'm new to DMR but loving my HD2! I got some code plug-ins down and now... I just heard a guy in Canton, NC (west of Asheville) talking to another guy in Lancaster, NC (east of Raleigh) on the WNC talk group. I'm connected to the WNC talk group via a Bear Wallow repeater. So three different people dialed into three different repeaters and were able to talk to each other. I was using HT and the other guy mentioned he was using HT. I'd like to run a hotspot but currently... don't need to since I can get on the repeater.

Built to withstand harsh environments while maintaining clear communications.

Our maintenance team finds these DMR ham radios incredibly easy to use with gloves on

I love these Retevis radios. They always work great and are reasonably heavy duty. I use them around my property. I can get roughly .5 miles away behind 2 hills and still talk to a handheld at my house. That is great for hills being between us. And that is just handheld to handheld.

Still new to dmr so I haven't tested every single feature yet but some quick testing tells me these are worth every penny.

During a recent warehouse fire, my HD2 took direct water cannon spray for 15 minutes straight while coordinating crews. Not only kept working, but the heat-resistant casing prevented any warping or melting.

arrived in perfect condition. great radio with very nice finish and accessories. I recommend the seller

As in the description, packaging suitable to the product, fast delivery, there was no need to contact the seller, quality materials measured accurately realized, surpasses the vices of the first edition HD1, upgraded universal connectivity according to the current requirements of wireless users, Bluetooth and charging the battery by USB type C, improvements in materiality and upgrade in programming cable and hardware of the multi-function rotary selector, expanding the storage and contact management capabilities, the focus of the brand is appreciated in the opinion of the end customer, great

Very nice radios. Clear audio good volume. Screw lock on mic accessories \ programming cable means it's not going to accidentally fall out!

I've worked with various two-way radios before, but these are the real deal. The radios held their charge throughout the long days, which was essential given the constant use. They felt sturdy in hand and stood up well to the bumps and drops that come with fast-paced event environments. For anyone planning a conference, running a large team, or working in an industrial setting, the Retevis HD2 is a reliable choice that won’t disappoint.

Perfect for our remote research station. Solar charging capability means we never run out of power, even during week-long field trips.

This is my first DMR radio and I love it. I have been a Ham for years and just now have found DMR. This HT has performed great. It is easy to program with the CPS and included programming cable once you get over the learning curve associated with DMR. I would recommend this unit to anyone wanting to get in to DMR.

Used it on hiking trips to communicate with different groups. No more than a mile away. The connection was good and audio is clear. I haven't tested them further out. In the city it worked well for at least 2.5 miles out. I accidently dropped it in a river and after I put it out to dry, it still worked perfectly!

HAM radio club president here - what impressed me most was how easily our newest members (some in their 70s) picked up the intuitive programming. The dual-band operation makes field day events a breeze comp

I received the product on time in good condition.

The USB-C charging is so convenient - same as our phones. No more hunting for special cables in our emergency vehicles.

Well made radios!

Para ir de excursion con la familia

I love these walkie talkies. Using them in the city for my mom and my daughter. Her house is about 1-2 miles away and they work!

As a private security contractor, I've put the HD2 through 6 months of daily urban patrols - it's survived concrete drops, heavy rain, and even a coffee spill that would have killed other radios. The encryp

Good, well built , easy to use.

Used these coordinating a marathon with 200 volunteers. The group calling feature saved us so much time compared to individual calls.

I’ve tried lot of radios, these so far are the best. About a 10 mile range in a rural setting, Not so much in a concentrated area. But still good!

Excellent radios could not have asked for better quality, ordered the mic and it works great with the radio. Great radio for a great price

I work as good as you would expect them to. It is the better quality at a reasonable price.

Our ski patrol standardized on these after they kept working after being buried in avalanches.

I like their function, durable, and you can talk load and clear for at least 2 miles and that was all forest

Our delivery drivers love the GPS tracking feature. Now dispatch can see everyone's locations at a glance on the map.

Emergency comms when cell phone towers go down and they will

Personal use. Sound quality is great. Range is good.

Battery life seems to be on point, the range is likely more than we need. Overall highly suggest if range is your focus. The prices worth it.

Did the radio system from my house due to construction and other projects. Very impressed.! Great product.

Will be using them for a security detail, doing a crash course on YouTube now on learning how to program them to communicate with other radios

For hospital security, the discreet earpiece jack allows silent operation in patient areas.

The vibration alert is genius for our theater crew during performances. No more disruptive audio during quiet scenes.

I bought the upgraded antenna (Ailunce Two Way Radio Antenna Dual Band SMA-F VHF UHF 136-174/400-480MHz Compatible with Ailunce HD1 Retevis RT29 Walkie Talkies (1 Pack)). With this installed I was able to communicate with my girlfriend out to 2.2 miles from my apartment through buildings (signal went completely dark after that point - used google maps to get the distance). Not too bad of a range considering most other brands only go out a mile. I was hoping for more range but they beat my initial expectations so happy with them.

The Radio itself is great

I use these radios everyday doing Comm work and they have held up with zero issues. They're not 1k Motorola's, but for the price point. Good to Go !!

Unreal range. Easily 1-2 miles over heavy forest w elevation changes. Easy to use. Very clear audio quality.

The emergency beacon helped locate a missing hiker in blizzard conditions last winter.

Our ski patrol team relies on these. The cold weather performance is impressive - batteries last all day in below-freezing temps when other radios die.

I love these radios! I got the IP67 version so I could keep this with me at the community pool and stay in touch with family at the house. Poor reviews of this radio are generally from people who dont know what they’re doing when programming them. When properly programmed, these radios shine!

These were purchased with the intention for commercial/industrial use. We are currently on a project requiring communication from the basement all the way up to the 9th floor of a concrete building and I have not been disappointed.

Works Long distance And clear

MUST follow all instructions for radio frequency radiation. very powerful radios. they have great range. you will not be disappointed. granted I am a newbie to radios, so what do I know ;). I am happy with purchase.

Perfect for our film crew. The noise cancellation works amazingly well - clear audio even when we're near generators and heavy equipment.

Our railroad maintenance crews appreciate the 5-mile range along tracks in hilly terrain.

I tested these in my suburban environment and they are loud and clear over half a mile away with many housing blocks and dozens of houses between the radios. They will go further than that in this environment I'm sure.

Love these radios. Fantastic range, clear messages, great volume. Unfortunately after about 6 months the batteries just packed up and died--and replacements aren't like getting a 3 pack of AAA's. So yes, I recommend the radios 100%, just not the batteries.

My husband and I own 2 high end sports cars and live in the Great Smokey Mountains. We have tried several other walkie talkies that were cheaper. These actually work great!

At first, I thought these would be cheap like a kid would use. When I received them they were solid. They were professional. Definitely not for kids.

The man-down alarm has literally saved lives when our officers were injured in remote locations.

These radios came and I assembled them immediately. Easy to understand instructions and assembled. I m in a multiple floored building and they worked perfectly. Even when I stood in a safe room I was able to reach the top floor clearly.

Bought one for my neighbor across the street 20 acres away, we can commuicate really clear, got it for security, we watch each other's homes!

These survived a 20-foot drop onto concrete at our construction site. Just some scratches - still works perfectly. Way tougher than our old radios.

The free-to-download CPS software makes organizing your contacts, zones, and memories easy. Exporting contacts and memories to CSV and using Excel or Google Sheets makes programming even less daunting.

The dual watch function lets us monitor dispatch while maintaining unit-to-unit chatter.

I bought the HD2 as a Father's Day gift for my dad。 He loves outdoor activities like hiking and fishing. He’s been using it for a few weeks now, and he absolutely loves it!

When in the mountains you need a better product that works. THESE DO!!!!!!! We needed something so we can communicate and this is puurrrrfect.

Our aviation ground crew comms are crystal clear despite constant jet engine noise.

I bought a Retevis/Ailunce HD2 based on reviews, features and price. It is a beautiful radio that fits well in the hand. I particularly like the USB C charging option - something I wish my Retevis RT3S had. Maybe this option can be included in future releases of that model. I initially had great difficulty reading from the HD2. There was something wrong either with the device driver, the software, the radio or programming cable. The support people were very attentive to my situation and offered many suggestions and even sent me an additional programming cable to try. We eventually agreed to replace the radio, accessories and all. That radio arrived today and I am now able to read and write to the radio via their free software. I greatly appreciate the efforts this company went to to ensure my purchase experience was a good one. I would not hesitate to buy from them again.

Best DMR radio with encryption for sensitive communications. Our private security firm appreciates the secure channels - no more worrying about eavesdroppers.

The Bluetooth PTT adapter works seamlessly with our existing tactical headsets.

Our school's maintenance team switched to these. The programmable buttons make it easy for our non-tech staff to use different channels for different buildings.

During the blackout, our HD2 network outperformed the county's emergency responder system.

Our border patrol unit tracks 50+ units simultaneously on the mapping software with zero lag.

Used during hurricane recovery efforts. Water resistance is no joke - worked fine after being submerged in floodwaters. Critical when cell towers were down.

For convoy security, the vehicle-mounted charging dock keeps units powered indefinitely during 72-hour operations.

Best cheap DMR radio that doesn't feel cheap. The metal casing makes all the difference. Our warehouse team has stopped breaking radios since we switched to these.

Our disaster response team standardized on HD2 after they maintained connectivity through 3 collapsed building floors.

Build quality feels good, and seems durable. Have not yet tested the IP67 rating, but will update should the opportunity present. These seem to be quality radios for the money.

I was looking for an inexpensive DMR/Analog radio to use while hiking, and the HD2 definitely fills that need. Like all of these inexpensive radios, the CPS is clunky. Once you use it for awhile it flows OK, and I have not encountered any big glitches. The need to have Excel installed to import the Radio ID database is a pain, but same for some other brands as well. Radio is solidly made and has endured a good deal of abuse without complaint or issue. I find the audio is very good and the RF performance is at least as good as much more expensive radios. Overall it has more than met my expectations, and I find it easy to use. Especially after customizing the programmable buttons. Sure radios like the Anytone have more features, but if you want a solid basic radio that works well, the HD2 will do the job very well.

Perfect for our kayaking group. Floating antenna saved me when I dropped it in the river - and it still works! Screen remains visible even in bright sunlight.

The attached image shows a 2m primary frequency transmission, with SIX! harmonic spurious transmissions. This is the worst radio I've seen in terms of spectral purity, it's beyond acceptable. Do know that every time you push the PTT, you're transmitting real power into restricted bands, even when you set the radio to a normal amateur 2m frequency. In my tests, the radio also completely desenses in the presence of a 5w nearby HT signal. If you are near another transmitter, even a small one, it will be deaf.

The noise-canceling mic filters out helicopter rotor noise so clearly we've stopped using headsets during extractions.

Cannot enter Dmr id Call sign A piece of junk No programing via a win10 or win 11 computer

The intuitive interface makes these DMR HT radios easy for all our staff members to operate

Battery life on these DMR ham radios lasts through multiple 12-hour shifts without needing recharge

The dual-band capability on these DMR radios provides excellent coverage for our mountain rescue missions

These DMR HT radios maintain perfect signal clarity even in our dense urban environment

Best DMR radio for the money - period. Compared to radios twice the price, these outperform in both range and durability. Our EMT squad won't use anything else now.

As an EMS coordinator, I value the medical emergency alert feature that overrides all channels with priority transmission.

Our security team loves the rugged build quality and clear reception of these DMR ham radios

This product is very good. Easy and to program value for money is great the range is very good the sound is very loud and good. 10/10

Its been a long time waiting for a dual band, AES-256 encryption capable, IP67 rated DMR radio at a good price point. This one checks all the boxes for that. Don't let the sad hams and their irrelevant concern over spurious emissions and falling to their knees for FCC compliance prevent you from picking up one of these.

This handheld radio has great volume and sound. The GPS works great and there are many channels. I am very impressed with the quality and the amount of things the radio can perform. It has a very long range and would be great for any ham radio member. Great product Two thumbs up!

The waterproof design makes these DMR radios perfect for our marine rescue team operations

The Retevis Ailunce HD2 is a nicely performing DMR radio. The radio covers the basics, simplex FM transmit and receive, as well as working just fine in DMR. The radio supports blue tooth and the kit came with a blue tooth speaker/mic. I also was able to test the GPS version of the radio. In short, quite a few bells and whistles to this radio. Let's talk about it. The radio itself is made from pretty tough feeling plastic. It has rubberized buttons that press pretty well with a good click, letting you know you pushed it. One knob is for on/off & volume and the other is for switching channels and settings in the menus. They're nicely sized and differentiated enough that you can tell 'em apart in the dark. However, I did find it really easy to adjust the volume when I was changing channels or menus and that was a bit irritating. In addition the buttons on the front and the standard push-to-talk, you get three additional function buttons that you can program through the code plug editor (much more on that below). It has a pretty clear and easy to read color screen. I know the common complaint on color screens is that they wash out in the sun. I generally haven't found that to be true, but it sure is on this radio. I turned the brightness up to 10 and when in sunlight, the screen just washed away. Not a showstopper, or even a big deal, but something you should know. The battery can be charged from the supplied cradle, or, you can use USB-C (I'm to the point where I'll knock a couple of stars off a radio that doesn't support USB-C charging). Battery life seems quite good. The kit I received, pictured above, included a programming cable and a bluetooth speaker mic. I found the programming cable worked, plug and play, just fine. However, I did go and download the driver from the Ailunce support site. It worked just fine with the programming software you can also download from that site. Know that Windows Defender does not like the files and you may need to bypass Defender to get them on your machine (and yes, for some people, this is a showstopper). The blue tooth speaker mic is actually quite nice. Sound quality is good. Signal reports were that it was a little quiet. I did find the PTT to release a little to easily at times, but overall, it worked very nicely. It's a great add to this radio, giving you a very hands free, and more private, experience using the radio (NOTE: not hands free in the car, although, I didn't test that setup to see if it worked). After programming (again, more on that later), I was able to make DMR contacts with the radio. It transmitted nicely to local repeaters and my hotspot, with no issues. Signal reports were that the radio was nice and clear with a good volume. Same for the speaker/mic. I got pretty good reach on FM simplex, transmitting well over two miles in tests. So, programming. Let me start by saying this is my 7th, distinct, DMR radio. I've programmed all of them, including this one, successfully. That said, this was one of the harder ones to program that I've used (not counting the first one when I was both figuring out DMR AND programming DMR, two distinct, but related, and interacting, concepts). It took me quite a while to get it doped and in fact, I finally had to download a code plug from the Ailunce support site. That did the trick. I figured out all the settings I was missing (like, transmission had to be set to color code, if you want color code used, all my other radios were, if you put in a color code, you were using that, just weird). There is a steep learning curve to this software. Further, the defaults when you add a new channel, were extremely irritating. I spent a lot of time turning things off that were turned on by default. Also, I never did find all the settings in the code plug software. For example, I like to display channel names when in channel mode. Easy setting from the radio, but I couldn't find the equivalent in the code plug software, and so, despite reading first from the radio, then programming changes (always a good habit, if your radio is working, reading first ensures it's settings are the one you use, in most software), I still got the display reset, every time. More irritation. However, once you get it worked out, the software isn't that bad (there are much worse out there) and you'll be able to set up zones, channels, listening groups and contacts pretty easily. The GPS works. That's about all I can say about it though. There's just almost no functionality. It transmits GPS coordinates on digital channels, and digital channels only. If someone is set up correctly, they'll receive them. If they're transmitting GPS location, you'll see it on your screen. That's it. No APRS. No tracking, direction, etc.. Really, kind of disappointing. I'd suggest you skip getting the GPS unit since there's so little there for the extra money. Overall, this is a very solid performing DMR radio, especially for the money. While the GPS isn't a big deal, the inclusion of the blue tooth and the programming cable make for a great little kit. I like the operation. I did find the programming software to be real pain and I would have knocked off more stars, but publishing code plugs won them back a star. Once programmed, you've got a functional DMR radio.

Revetis/Ailunce hit this one out of the ball park again. If there's a company that listen to it's customer, Revetis/Ailunce is the one. Is it a perfect radio? No, but they are constantly improving with firmware updates and newer models. My first DMR radio was the Retevis R3TS and it's been a solid digital radio. There are many reviews of this radio stating there were some issues like the radio is unable to encode and decode or unable to waking up from NOAA channels. Well I don't have any of these issues. There's an updated firmware you have to download from Retevis website. The only issues I have is that the exe file to flash the radio. Windows see it as a Trojan virus. After disabling Windows Defender, I was able to flash the radio with the latest firmware. The CPS is not perfect but it works like the CPS for the R3TS and HD1. It took me a good hour or so to set the radio up with a few DMR channels and a few 2m and 70cm repeaters. Was able to hit all repeaters about 44 miles away with a solid clear audio and full quieting. On the DMR side, the audio is night and day better than the R3TS and HD1. Again they are constantly improving the radio this one, the HD2 is a big leap forward over the HD1. The battery last over a day of heavy use and you can either charge it via the USB Type-C port on the battery or use the cradle to charge it. The one thing I didn't expect that this radio now support Bluetooth audio and it comes with a nice Revetis brand earpiece with a PTT button on the bottom of the earpiece. Pairing with the radio was fast and easy. Very nice.. I also test this radio on 2m and 70cm simplex (National Calling frequency) audio was a bit crackling but was able to talk to another station about 10 miles away. Power output is around 5 watts and that is all you really need. Getting a better antenna would improve the range much more but you will lose the IP67 rating. This is one of the few radio in this price point that is has a true IP67 rating. I took my chance and hose this radio down with a garden hose for a good 20 seconds while listening to a NET. Shook the radio of the water off and it works with no issues. Currently using this radio with a pi-star hotspot so all the DMR channels are set to low. There's 2 DMR repeaters around me and I was able to make full contact on the World Talk group and check it with a Parrot and audio feed back was nice and clear. Again much improved over the HD1 and R3TS. This radio is packed with features pretty much comes with everything you need to start talking on DMR . And I think any issues with this radio that most users have is not knowing how to properly setup the radio or there was a setting missed while programming it with the CPS. I also took several photos of this radio next to my R3TS and the Ailunce HA1G to show the size reference. Overall this is a great digital radio that has a great range on analog and the audio on DMR (12.5k narrow band) sounds great.

Having used the GMRS variant of this radio, I already knew I liked the build design and characteristics of this radio. It has a feeling of heft that gives you confidence it would hold up to a harsher environment. The part that makes me subtract a bit is the internal system. The software seems clunky and has options that the user does not use with a DMR radio. I don’t feel like its been given the time needed. The menus just leave me with more questions. The good thing to that is, It’s all a software issue which can be updated overtime. As far as FCC regs, I won’t bother touching on that subject but you should do some research prior to deciding making sure you are getting a radio that best suites your needs.

Impressed by how easy these DMR HT radios were to program compared to other models we've tested

I've had this for a while now and all-in-all it is a great radio with some stand-out features. I do feel like they could have done *more* with the bluetooth capabilities since they took the trouble of putting that in there. In this day and age we know have sub-$30 FM radios that can be programmed by bluetooth from a phone app, it's too bad that this much more expensive radio can't do that as many of the pain points of setting up DMR and the limitations of the small screen and buttons can be overcome with the use of a nice phone app, but it seems that is still a ways out yet. At least there is the bluetooth audio and the inclusion of the bluetooth earpiece is quite nice. It works well and it also works well with their handheld wireless mic that is sold separately. Unfortunately it seems it only works with their brand bluetooth stuff that was made for this radio so it won't like pair to your car or at least I couldn't figure out a way to do that. Beyond the limited (but still welcome) BT features, it of course is DMR capable and works well if there is a lot of DMR repeaters in your area or if you setup a DMR hotspot at your QTH. In terms of interface and usage I kind of prefer my GD-88, but, I have to admit the extras on this like the BT and the USB-C charging make it hard to pick an outright winner between those two. This is a little bit larger of a radio than most and feels good in-hand. Once you learn the battery of operations it's easy enough to use, just takes some searching online as with most of these advanced radios.

This DMR ham radio has become my go-to device for emergency communications with its reliable signal and long battery life

Hams won’t like this radio but it’s almost the perfect Prepper/SHTF radio Analog/DMR(digital) Ip67 Text message SMS USB-C TRI band uhf/vhf 220 (136-174MHz 222MHz-225MHz 400-520MHz) FRS/GMRS/MURS/ham AES-256 encryption Front panel programmable Bluetooth Proper multpin waterproof accessory/speaker mic port. (Motorola m3) (same as Motorola gp328plus) they also sell a $15 adapter to use kenwood 2 pin(baofeng) acessories What could be improved : the sms/text should have the option to encrypt it,APRS, single frequency repeat mode & cross band repeat mode should be added. There should be a way to import repeaters from RepeaterBook.com To make ham crowd happy fix the spurious emissions.

For starters, don't listen to the sad hams and their fear of spurious transmission, FCC approvals, and other nonsense that they chatter on about endlessly. If a radio is not $600-$1,500 and absolutely perfect, they'll bash it. Another issue in reviews to look out for is people will say certain radios don't work well and its through no fault of the radio, but the understanding or use of the end user. You can have a radio perfectly programmed, but if you're in an area with shoddy reception, it is still not going to work well. I think a lot of people don't take this into consideration when writing reviews. They think you can just program a radio for a local repeater and take nothing else into consideration; which is far from the truth. There are a lot of factors that effect any radio's performance, no matter how perfectly designed and programmed it is. I've used $1,000 Motorola hand held radios in my work and there are times because of the area you are in, they still don't work well. But, to the HD2; all in all, this radio does what it advertises it can do and then some AND for a budget price. Is it perfect? No. My 3 biggest issues with the radio are that the programming software can be a little glitchy (freezes up for about 30 seconds every time you save your program...once you know this, it is an easy work around to just wait 30 seconds). Also, if you install the wrong firmware update it will brick the radio. This can be undone, but you have to play with the radio for a bit to figure out how (disconnect it from everything and pull the batter for 10 seconds before reconnecting it and putting it back into programming mode). The last thing is, that both the firmware updates and programming software will trip every virus scanner you have when you try to install any of it. I had to pretty much shut down ever virus protection I had in order to install the programs and then tell Malwarebytes to ignore the software afterwards. I've read this is due to some security certificate not being signed (can't confirm this though), but it is a known issue amongst Ailunce users for both the HD1 and HD2 and I've never heard of it causing problems for anyone, beyond the annoyance of having to momentarily shut down their virus protection. Just remember to turn it back on after. The radio has your standard range as most radios do and I was able to hit a few repeaters miles away from me without issue. This radio can also easily be unlocked to cover both Ham and GMRS channels (136mhz - 225 MHz and 400MHz - 520Mhz). It's incredibly simple to find out how to do this with a quick youtube search. One big question everyone had when this radio first came out was, "Will it have AES 256?" And I can affirm that with the most recent update from a few months ago it DOES have AES 256. It also has AES 126 and a few of Ailunce's proprietary encryption programs. I'm not sure what they are, but the HD1 and HD2 both have them; so you should be able to encrypt communication between the 2 without issue. I however, would not bet my life on how secure the standard Ailunce encryption is; if you want true security, you're going to have to use AES 256. The Ailunce does allow you to write your own random encryption key for AES-256 (and the other encryption programs as well), but from my understanding, it is best to have a computer do this for you for maximum security. Obviously to legally fully utilize all the features of this radio in the US, you would have to be in an "emergency" situation, but I'm guessing you're an adult and can decide when that situation arises for you. Overall, for the price the radio is pretty good. Not perfect, but pretty darn good. If you're looking for a budge radio it's hard to beat the HD2.

It's a heaping pile of crap. It will not program properly. The CPS is garbage. The program cable is poorly made. I have plenty of DMR radios and this is the worst of all of them.

The DMR radios deliver crystal clear audio quality that outperforms more expensive brands in our daily operations

Our oil rig crew relies on the intrinsically safe models in explosive environments. No spark risk even when banged against metal structur

Our farm crew loves these. Dustproofing is legit - they've survived grain silo work and still function perfectly. Battery lasts multiple days with moderate use.

The GPS tracking has saved countless hours during search operations in mountainous terrain. Pinpoint accuracy within 3 meters.

A check in a 4 block area was perfectly clear. Perfect for my use. I will be purchasing more later on.

For maritime SAR operations, the waterproofing exceeds IP67. We've recovered units from 20ft underwater that powered up immediately after

Best DMR handheld radio for event staff! Used these at a music festival with 50+ volunteers. No interference issues despite hundreds of other radios nearby. The belt clips held up to constant use.

Great little radio

Looks like a good product. But I can not get it to program on pc

Very nice works great

This was a good radio but its not programmed for north america, the firmware update is not there despite my computer saying it is a virus, tried to proceed and download anyways and its not there, Retevis has horrible customer service, i mean horrible, I will stick to american made radios were i can call and talk to someone. VERY VERY DISAPOINTED.

Bought this radio with the intention of getting into DMR and playing around with it. Found out that this radio will not work on North American HAM band’s particularly 136-174 mhz. There is a a firmware update that allows you to select your own bands but you still can’t run on HAM VHF bands unfortunately. Returned it within 2 weeks of owning it.

Everything is great about it

I love this radio its a really neat radio and an exciting one. Thanks. retevis for making great radioes its a challenge and more comments I am going to try to get my ham radio lisence in the future. But Ill just use it for an ham radio scanner. Kurt.Thienes.

Pretty cool radio, has tons of programming options. You can transmit digital or analog signals with high or low power. You can set certain frequencies into zones and switch between them. You can program quite a bit of frequencies as well.

I really wanted to like this radio due to its waterproof design but it had too many issues so it was returned. 1- Included programming cable requires a driver from Retevis/Ailunce websites. I am using Win11 on 3 different machines and the driver “could not be rendered “. 2- CPS software. My antivirus software had an absolute fit with this software on any PC. Kept saying it’s a threat and need to delete it. 3- Radio was a dud. Would not power on.

I got this primarily for analog use and I liked its water resistance and people said it felt durable. That's all true and I don't know how well it performs for DMR, but it doesn't pick up the first 2 seconds of analog transmissions. It's like it falls asleep and needs to be woken up before it tells you someone is talking. I'd rather have something chirp compatible. The TIDradio H8 has a better user experience. I will keep looking for my super durable radio for camping but this isn't it just based off of missing the beginning of every broadcast if you also want an analog radio with durability like this digital one, try the retevis RA89. its even more waterproof and the display is better for outdoors....and its chirp compatible!

Fire Captain here - we've subjected these to direct flame exposure for 30 seconds with zero functionality loss. The heat-resistant casing

This radio will definitely do DMR with good audio. Analog also works very well too. Powerful enough with 10 watts and the reception is very nice. Build quality is good and the radio feels solid in the hand.

It Can cover 400-527mhz. By punching in a 6 digital code and Also expanding the VHF Band up to at least 225mhz from 132mhz.

These saved our hiking trip when we got separated in thick forest. Range was impressive - about 3 miles through heavy tree cover. The emergency alert feature got everyone's attention fast.

I like it a lot. Solid build quality, great audio. Took one week of emails to Retevis to receive a new programming cable as the the original cable was defective not allowing the software to read or write to the radio even though a firmware update completed successfully.

I feel like it's a good radio especially for the money. However, if you try to use it as an analog radio it takes about 3 seconds before it can pick up the signal. By then you've lost a good bit of information being transmitted. I love the Bluetooth feature though, in the radio feels really good. And it works just fine on digital mode. This is an update to my review. The company reached out to me very quickly and gave me advice on how to fix my issue and they kind of did. While using analog mode if you turn the battery saver off and have it set to just a single channel monitor it works really well. I wish it would work as well with dual monitor but for the money this radio cost I'm very happy with. the programing software it's not too bad to work with. I'm very happy with the response time of the company as well. awesome people! I Will buy more soon.

The radio is built well and feels great in the hand, but it falls short past the construction. The transmitter is very lost and noisy I could not key it up in my computer room without getting into a set of speakers or setting off my touch lamps. The other issue was the programming cable was built with the old proflic chip and will not work on windows 11. So I am not quite sure what was updated

I spent hours trying to program. At times I made progress, but the next day it stopped working. 1. I was not getting any audio on analog channels. Seemed to be receiving RF. Eventually, I got it to work. 2. DMR setup was buggy with the CPS. I was not able to get the DMR to transmit, but was able to hear transmission, but not able to respond. 3.. The program cable would often corrupt the USB port drivers and I would need to remove and reinstall USB driver. 4. Then, I could not hear audio on analog or DMR, so I returned it for a refund. Compared to other DMR radios and CPS, I had better success. Also, the manual says it is a 5 WATT radio. Retevis Internet ads state 10 WATTS. YouTuber showed at least 6-7 WATTS. I could only get 5WATTS RF on my meter. It seems the non-US version are 10watts; check the non-American manual.

Outstanding DMR Handheld Radio – Solid Build and Great Performance! ★★★★★ The Ailunce HD2 is hands down one of the best handheld DMR radios I’ve used. From the moment I unboxed it, I could tell it was built to last. The build quality is exceptional—the housing feels rugged and durable, with a premium finish that gives confidence it can withstand heavy use in the field. The buttons are firm and responsive, and the screen is bright and easy to read, even in direct sunlight. Programming the radio was straightforward, especially with the software provided. For the price, the Ailunce HD2 delivers incredible value. It combines professional-grade features with a durable build that’s perfect for both hobbyists and serious operators. I highly recommend this radio to anyone looking for a reliable, high-performing DMR handheld!

This radio has a ton of potential. It has a great feature set, looks good, feels like good quality, and has good power. If we ignore the fact that it is illegal to use in the US, it still has some issues. Unfortunately, it is very flaky. You'll have it programmed and on and use it, then out of nowhere it will stop outputting voice. You can tell from the display that the radio is receiving transmission but has decided not to decode and output it. Playing with it for a while and switching in and out of NOAA band seems to wake it back up. If you program it with the same code 3 times, you'll likely receive a different configuration on the radio 2 of those 3 times. (Testing done on latest firmware) Between not being an FCC approved radio and the flaky issues with it, I would say this radio is priced about 400-500% higher than it should be.

Had some significant problems with the unit on initial presentation. Beautiful packaging, solid unit, but awkward programming. I was promptly contacted by the Retevis support staff, and Angela worked with me to get the unit to work the way it was supposed to, Needless to say, support for DMR can be critical! The unit is now working well, and functions as a basic DMR HT. If you are looking for a solid HT, with very good sound, and excellent customer support, the HD-2 may be what you are looking for. The market for these devices has become very competitive, reminiscent of the Chevy-Ford controversy. Judge for yourself, and get the unit you like.

As a radio instructor, I appreciate how the intuitive menu system helps new HAMs grasp DMR concepts faster. The dual-band display makes b

Best Chinese DMR radio for the price! Our security team switched to these and the difference is night and day. Clear audio even when we're spread across the entire warehouse complex.

My spouse does night shifts and needed reliable comms. The flashlight and emergency alert features give me peace of mind, while the belt clip stays secure during patrols. Says it's the most practical gift I've ever given him!

My construction crew uses these daily. After 6 months of rough handling, they still work like new. The battery lasts our entire 10-hour shift with heavy use.

Maintaining comms along 15 miles of track through mountainous terrain used to require repeaters. The HD2's range eliminated that need.

Purchased for my 65-year-old father who's into ham radios. The color display is easy on his eyes, and the simple programming made setup effortless. Now he chats with his buddies daily - best gift to combat retirement boredom!

They are crystal clear a mile apart in thick suburban housing. I also drove down a very long street to the base of a mountain which was slightly elevated from the rest of the valley below. My son was using a radio back at the house and I was up the hill. Communication was crystal clear as if we were right next to each other, but we were TEN MILES APART. The elevation provided a better line of sight, and with line of sight these things will just go forever basically. They are fantastic.

Best budget DMR radio I've found! Used these during our mountain rescue training - survived multiple drops on rocks and kept working perfectly. The waterproofing really works when we got caught in heavy rain.
