We have another set of these walkie talkies but I like being able to just charge one at a time. We use these with our kids on Halloween and they worked great across our neighborhood which is maybe a half mile or so. The connection is clear and they are easy to use. We haven't really tried using them further but are planning to up in the mountains when we go camping. The kids think they are really fun and often play with them around the house. The charge is decent. It' takes a few hours to fully charge, but we've never run them completely dead so I can't say how long it would take from that point. Overall, it's a god product with decent range if you want a higher quality walkie-talkie without going to the industrial types.

The GPS isn’t just for showing dots on a map. The ‘measure distance’ feature is incredibly useful. During a search exercise, we could quickly see the exact distance and bearing to a teammate’s last transmitted location. Sharing our coordinates with one button press made coordination effortless and precise.

Ma***

Coming from another major brand, I was skeptical. But the H1 won me over. The audio quality is clearer, the GPS locks faster, and features like SFR are implemented in a more user-friendly way. For the price, the value proposition is unmatched. It has become my primary radio

Ca***

With support for 500,000 imported contacts, I’ve loaded the entire DMR user database. Now, whenever I receive a call, I see the caller’s name and location. It transforms random calls into personal connections. The 4000 channel capacity lets me organize everything logically by region and purpose.

Sa***

The receiver is incredibly sensitive, pulling in weak signals clearly. The speaker audio is loud and crisp, even in windy conditions. Whether it’s a faint APRS packet or a voice call, the H1 delivers exceptional clarity. It performs like a radio costing twice as much.

The Retevis Ailunce H1 Dual Band Analog Two Way Ham Radios are a very high-quality, very durable set of ham radios that are built like a tank. I have researched the brand a bit and the radios by this company have a reputation of extreme durability that holds up to heavy use and abuse. I had a Cobra 2000 in the early 80s with ham radio channels, and I lived on my radio every morning talking on skip across the world. I am also a casual prepper, so I was extremely excited to get this set of ham radios. Now that I have the set, I intend on pursing a license to operate ham radio but of course without a license, for now it can't be used. This is my first time using a handheld ham radio and this set is extremely easy to set up and use. The radios have a lot of features, and it will take me some time to become fully familiar with them. The radios have clean sound and a volume that is easy to hear. There is a voice prompt to guide you when using the radios. They have powerful 2900mAh batteries. They come with a charging station, type C charging and they come with the plugs. When a power source isn't available during a power outage or when out hiking, hunting, camping etc they can be charged on a car cigarette lighter with an adapter. I have mountain property that backs up to ATV trails and forest for that goes on for miles. I have lost my way when hiking on the mountain and it was a terrifying experience when darkness started to descend around me, and I thought I would be stuck in the forest through the night. So, I am thrilled to have the GPS feature of the radios to provide safety when I hike. I am extremely happy to have the feature rich very high quality Retevis Ailunce Ham Radios especially for emergencies. Highly Recommend!

It’s my everyday carry for both practical communication and ham radio exploration. The form factor is just right, not too bulky. I’ve made contacts across the globe via DMR networks, all while knowing it’s tough enough for any daily adventure. It perfectly bridges utility and hobby.

St***

For my month-long remote expedition, the H1 was my communication hub. I used analog for local chat, DMR via satellite hotspot for updates, APRS for position logging, and GPS for navigation. One device replaced four. Its versatility and durability are unparalleled in this price range.

Da***

The APRS and GPS features on the H1 are game-changers for solo hiking. I can automatically beacon my location to online maps, and my family can track my progress in real-time. The over-range alarm gives me peace of mind. It’s not just a radio; it’s a safety device that lets me explore further with confidence.

Du***

The Talk Alias feature is brilliant for large events. Instead of just seeing a radio ID, the screen shows the person’s name or role (e.g., ‘Security_John’ or ‘Medic_Team’). This eliminates confusion during critical communications and speeds up response times. A simple but incredibly effective professional touch.

El***

After a year of use in mountains, deserts, and urban environments, my verdict is clear: the Ailunce H1 is the most capable and reliable handheld radio I’ve ever owned. Its unique blend of safety features (GPS/APRS), emergency capability (SFR), and massive capacity make it an unbeatable all-in-one solution for anyone who depends on communication outdoors.

An***

I’m a serious prepper, and the H1 is the centerpiece of my comms plan. When the grid is down, its SFR function can turn any unit into a repeater to extend range. The GPS and APRS ensure team coordination and location sharing. The rugged IP67 build and massive 2900mAh battery mean reliability when it matters most.

Br***

We use the H1s for family hikes in national parks. The kids carry them too. Knowing I can see their GPS location on my screen, and that we can communicate even around obstacles with SFR, makes the experience much safer and more relaxing for everyone. Worth every penny for the peace of mind.

Qu***

When you list the features—GPS, APRS (dual), SFR, 500K contacts, IP67, huge battery—and then see the price, it’s an absolute no-brainer. You’d pay significantly more from other brands to get even half this functionality. The H1 represents the best value in rugged, feature-packed DMR radios today.

Al***

The dual APRS capability (both analog and digital) is a huge advantage. I can participate in the traditional analog APRS network while also using the more feature-rich digital APRS on DMR. This flexibility ensures I’m never out of the loop, regardless of what protocol the local community uses.

Og***

We tested the Single Frequency Repeater (SFR) feature on a canyon trip. One H1 placed on a ridge acted as a repeater, effortlessly relaying signals between team members miles apart in the valleys. It created an instant mesh network. This is a must-have feature for any serious wilderness team.

Mu***

Our volunteer search and rescue team adopted the H1. The combination of GPS location sharing, APRS tracking for team vehicles, and the ability to instantly set up a repeater chain with SFR in uncharted terrain has dramatically improved our operational efficiency and safety.

Br***

I think Retevis has hit a homerun with this radio. This radio will be great for new hams that want to get into DMR and for the price point it cant be beat. This radio can be completely programmed from the keypad, but it also has CPS software if you want to use software to program it

Bo***

RETIVIS Corporate is missing a great $$$s opportunity to write/ support a missing NEEDED iPhone and Droidstar based APP (that use to be available by individual ham… for the many of us who live in rural areas w/o DMR repeaters OR only daisey-chained DMR repeaters do not allow longer Nets or even small 4-6 chit- chat groups from ‘hogging’ the DMR repeaters/ linked Repeater system. The iPhone App that was privately written allowed individual groups to use their DMR HTs to directly link via WiFi (like to a hotspot) but directly to their WiFi ability and onto the phone’s ability to connect to that groups ‘chat- room’. It didn’t tie up local DMR repeaters, always available, n NEVER any reception issues (hospitals, mountains, marine mobile… so long as adequate cell phone signal was available. EVERYONE that was using this DMR HT to DMR NETWORK phone Iapp REALLY MISSES IT. Think most would even be willing to pay modest monthly fee…

Gage

Will there be a user modding community? Open firmware radios like GD-77 gained huge followings.

Colt

No BT mentioned - a missed opportunity for wireless headsets and smartphone integration.

Reed

Are spare batteries, extended antennas, and car chargers readily available? Or proprietary/overpriced?

Drake

Specs should list operating temps.

Brock

At $180, what's the warranty? 1 year? 2? Water damage coverage would show confidence in build quality.

Wyatt

Is the software intuitive or another clunky nightmare? Bad UI makes complex radios frustrating.

Co***

500K contacts need smart sorting - can you create custom groups or is it one massive list?

Dean

Tactile buttons matter when wearing gloves. Are these raised properly or flush/slippery?

Ru***

Many dual-banders omit this key feature. If H1 includes it, that's a huge plus for emergency use.

Kyle

Can you adjust APRS beacon frequency? Constant 10-minute pings will murder battery life.

Jared

Does it use SMA or BNC connectors? Aftermarket antenna compatibility could make/break this for enthusiasts.

Wade

Clear audio matters - does the mic handle wind noise well? Some radios become unusable in breezy conditions.

Cl***

Color screens often wash out outdoors. Can you actually read this one in direct sunlight?

Troy

Most radio belt clips break within months. Is H1's clip metal-reinforced or the same flimsy plastic?

Sp***

AES encryption sounds good, but is it properly implemented? Many 'secure' radios have been cracked easily.

Grant

With 500K contacts, how fast does channel scanning work? Laggy scanning makes large contact lists useless.

Blake

Can users update firmware via USB-C? Some radios require proprietary cables - that would be a step backward.

Chase

They call it 'rugged' but what's the actual IP rating? If it's not at least IP54, heavy rain might be trouble.

Trent

How's the voice clarity with the AMBE codec? Some budget DMR radios sound robotic - hope H1 does better.

Derek

The built-in GPS is great for APRS, but does it maintain accuracy in dense forests or urban canyons? Real-world testing needed.

Lance

6W transmit power + 25 hours runtime shows Ailunce found the perfect balance between performance and power consumption. Compared to 10W radios (which typically halve battery life), the H1 is better for lightweight travel.

Brett

25 hours runtime in digital mode is impressive! Clearly optimized for power efficiency, making it great for fleet dispatch or emergency operations. But how much does enabling both GPS and APRS reduce this? Hope Retevis provides detailed test conditions (e.g., transmit/receive ratio).

Cody

The 2900mAh battery lasts 25 hours in digital mode, and USB-C charging is a boon for outdoor users - no need for special chargers, just use a power bank.

Tr***

At $179.99, it's nearly $100 cheaper than the AnyTone 878UV II. Perfect for budget-conscious users needing basic DMR+APRS functionality. If quality control holds up, this could be the ultimate entry-level radio.

Shane

Support for both analog and digital APRS gives it far better compatibility than competitors! Combined with GPS tracking, it's ideal for fleet monitoring or field positioning. But is digital APRS relay support fully developed? Hope firmware updates improve this.

Da***

500,000 contact storage and dual-band DMR support make it perfect for fleet dispatch or large event coordination.

Co***

GPS boundary alerts + top emergency button + NOAA weather alerts make the H1 reliable for outdoor adventures and disaster response. Features like 'Man Down' detection and SFR could be lifesavers. But is 6W power sufficient in mountainous areas? Field testing recommended.

Bryce

6W power + APRS tracking + waterproof design make the H1 look like an outdoor communication powerhouse.

Ga***

If real-world tests confirm its GPS positioning speed and DMR call quality meet standards, this could be an amazing device.

Tr***

$179.99 is a very tempting price for a dual-band DMR + GPS/APRS radio!

Ra***

Is there a waiting list I can join to get early access to buy?

Lucas

VIP fast delivery sounds perfect! How can I get access to this?

Logan

How do I get the $25 savings? Do I need to sign up somewhere?

Ja***

I can't wait to buy the H1! When will it be available for purchase?

Hu***

When can we actually use the $25 discount? At launch or pre-order?

Le***

I'm so excited for this! What's the exact release date for H1?

Ryan

Matches the description 100%. No complaints here!

Isaac

No issues at all since day one. Reliable and performs well.

Dylan

I’m obsessed with this! Already convinced two coworkers to buy one.
