HD1 is my favorite walkie-talkie, no doubt about it! After the upgrade, it supports type-c charging, and the firmware, software, and accessories are very complete. The price is cheaper than digital radios of the same power. HD1 has accompanied me to many places, and it is really more sturdy and resistant to falling than advertised.
yes I have! I purchased an HD1 with the idea that it would be my SAR radio. I loaded it down with our SAR frequencies, VHF UHF interop, and local agency frequencies. Along with ham stuff also… I liked the size and functionality of the radio. Programming it was a breeze and it held everything I needed to put in it. I said when I crawled through mud it was a different Radio. This is that radio due to its IP67 rating. I work GSAR and have used mine, it’s survived the PNW woods and rain just fine.
HD1 works in the Sonoran Desert with heat, dirt, sweat and salt very good. Not only a ham radio but also a professional radio for every place.
The HD1 is a robust, IP67 DMR radio that is straightforward, easy to learn, and relatively easy to program for it's price point.
Good ham radio with the FPP function. Just got it 10 mins ago. Fpp is easy. I like this radio's good build. Also, the receive is very clear
