Retevis RT97S portable GMRS repeater extends the range of your handheld or mobile GMRS radios. Ideal for farm use, community communication and various outdoor activities like fishing, hiking, and off-road driving, as well as for emergency preparedness, this portable repeater is a valuable addition to your gear.
1. This version of GMRS repeater RT97S features an updated case and a DB-9 Female connector for adding an external controller for linking purposes. You can add this repeater to the myGMRS Network by purchasing a linking bundle or an all-in-one kit that is plug-and-play (coming soon).
2. Featuring 8 GMRS repeater channels, full 5W of output power after the duplexer, and a built-in notch duplexer, all you need to do is add an antenna and feeder cable to get on the air.
3. Built into a cable TV amplifier box, the RT97S is rugged and water-resistant. Two power adapters come with the repeater, a 12V/24V cigarette lighter plug, and an AC adapter. A USB programming cable is also included, so you can program the repeater to your channel and CTCSS/DCS tones of choice.
4. The RT97S is ideal for solar-powered repeater sites where low power and a small footprint are required. At such a small portable size, this repeater is perfect for camping trips or emergency preparedness.
5. Inside the case, there is a small 10W notch duplexer, an LCD, a DC-DC power adapter, and the integrated radio module itself. This repeater does NOT simply have 2 handheld radios inside.

These radios are fantastic. We use these in the hiking community and great to keep in contact with larger groups.
I bought the RT97S bundle directly from Retevis on a Black Friday sale after reading reviews here. I mounted it on a 17' pole (top of antenna about 20' high) and tested it out using a Midland MXT275 (15 watt mobile) with Midland 6db antenna on the roof of my truck. I was able to communicate clearly across a 13 mile valley to handheld at my house via this little repeater. I'm sure it would go much farther. In town I was able to easily get 2.5 miles in a suburban neighborhood. I'm sure it will get much more that 2.5 miles in a suburban area as well. I'm very impressed with repeater considering in only puts out 5 watts. So far it exceeds what I expected. This testing was using the Retevis MR004 Aluminum Alloy Omni-Directional Base Station Antenna and coaxial cable that come with the package.
Read description before to insure you order the right one, the GMRS model works great and easy to set up, I actually ordered the wrong one and contacted customer service, it was replaced with the GMRS version very quickly, customer service was great
Five Star product with high grade wiring and antennas I am getting 17 Watt radiation...about 40 ft high..good range.. works very well 12 mile range in the open with a 5 watt walkie-talkie..up date..still working well..Nov.22. 24..
Very simply to set up -- basically plug it in, hook up an antenna, and select your desired repeater frequency pair (it can be done on the unit itself without a computer -- or use the computer and select specific info). Works great.
Affordable and effective. It provides great value for the price compared to other repeaters.
Perfect for valley communication. After placing it on a hilltop, I can now communicate with friends in the valleys.
Reliable in bad weather. I’ve had zero issues with signal stability during rain or wind.
Great for farm use. The RT97S covers my 50-acre farm perfectly.
Highly reliable for events. Used it for an outdoor festival, and the communication was seamless across large crowds.
Perfect for small teams. We use the RT97S for our local cycling club to stay in touch during events.
Boosted signal range. With the RT97s, I can now reach areas I couldn’t with my old setup.
Great build quality. No issues with durability even in tough conditions.
Easy to relocate. I moved the RT97S to a higher point, and it improved my range dramatically.
I bought this pre-programmed to GMRS Frequencies from Retevis. I have it up on a mountain side about two miles from my house. It is powered by a 9 amp hour battery that is solar recharged. It lasts four days in the battery with no sun. 22 Miles from its location is my brother in law's home. We could clearly talk from his house to mine.It is a low powered repeater so keep in mind line of sight is critical but it does it's job very well.
Good range. I'm getting around 20 miles in rolling hills in the right spots with the antenna on a 30 foot mast. Overall satisfied. Good price for a good product
I have my antenna on a 30 foot mast and I'm getting a max distance of around 20 miles in rolling hills. Very happy and worth the money
I love these radios. I can use these when skiing in the mountains with >1mi of reception. The are simple to use (without buttons on the face) so my kids can use them without accidentally changing the channel (which was a problem with the previous radios I purchased.)
I purchased this set to communicate between campers when there is no cell service. I love the small size so we can throw it in our backpack when hiking. Overall, the range and clarity are better than expected.
Much better range than I expected. I mounted the antenna on a 17' pole and went about testing it using a 15 watt mobile device in my truck with a 6db antenna. I was able to communicate clearly across a 13 mile valley with a handheld at my house via this little repeater. In town I was able to easily communicate 2.5 miles away in a suburban neighborhood. I'm sure I could have easily gone farther but I ran out of time. In the 2 hours of driving around and testing the only impediment to clear communications were bridges and mountains - to be expected. Mounted up high I'd estimate this will easily cover a 10 mile radius.
