Its been a long time waiting for a dual band, AES-256 encryption capable, IP67 rated DMR radio at a good price point. This radio is superb. I have programmed DMR talkgroups into the radio without a computer. That is correct, No Codeplug. It is very easy to program via the front panel & save them to channels. DMR ID contacts can be uploaded if you want that. Otherwise you will only see the DMR ID number of the station you are talking to. Audio reports as well as parrot tests have been great. The battery life is outstanding with a USB C chargeable 3,200 Mah battery. It also includes a drop in charging cradle. The radio is built like a tank and the display is simple and very clear. I would certainly buy this radio again.

I have a Retevis HA1UV analog radio and loved it so much I bought the HD2 so I had 02 DMR radios (the 1st DMR radio is another brand). The HD2 checks all the boxes at 1/2 the price of its competition. Dual band, Dual time a lot, waterproof, USB-C charging, and mine came with a Bluetooth earbud!!! Once you get over doing DMR codeplugs you will enjoy DMR radios and this HD2 radio with be you daily driver.

I have always been impressed with Retevis's products and services when I have needed any help. This radio has both 2m and 70cm and in many cases it has done all the things I need. Whether I am at home using a hotspot or roaming around town using a DMR repeater, it does the job well.

If you need Bluetooth or 2 meter coverage, then go with this radio. I use it primarily for Bluetooth to connect to my Bluetooth headset and it does a great job of that. The battery life is also very good. The sound quality from the built in speaker is also excellent. I have had no issues using this radio. I highly recommend it if this radio fits your specific needs.

Well, this is a really impressive device. It has a lot of features that I have never used on a radio before and I feel like I need to take a class to learn how to use it. It will be fun to learn all of these features. This is my first DMR radio so the learning curve will be steep. Well built and durable. I have always used dual band HT so this one is special. But it is DMR which is its best feature. I will use it when I travel as there are no DMR repeaters near me. I also need to buy a hotspot. It has both analog and digital modes. The output power can reach up to 10W. It also has GPS. The battery life is good. It runs on a rechargeable battery and it comes with a charger. What else is in the box? You get the radio, antenna, battery, belt clip, charger, power cord, and programming cable. You can download the software from the Radioddity website. The software is easy to find and the file size is only 3.4MB. The screen can be customized to your needs. You can set your call sign to appear on the radio you are contacting. It offers private calls between radios and much more. I'm looking forward to using it more as I learn all of its features. 73!

I haven't used it all yet but I can already tell there are a lot of things I like about this radio over my HD1. It seems to be better built and assembled. I like the look of it, it looks a lot more solid than the HD1. I also like that it has a variety of different output power levels instead of just a simple high/low like most radios. The quickest way for me to test it out was to tune the VFO to the normal FM mode on my cross-band repeater, the sound quality was great, the speaker was clear and loud, and the volume control was great. There are a lot of button customization options. The battery lasted a full day easily. Now I just need to turn on my DMR hotspot and start to explore the deeper features. So far it looks like a great radio. I'm pretty sure this radio will be a daily radio for me at home.

First of all, I can't say enough good things about Retevis' customer service! This is a very nice radio and looks great. It's well designed, solidly built, and has a long battery life of up to 12 hours of continuous reception. The color display is easy to read, and the top knob is easy to operate and has a lot of features. I've used a few 2017-2019 DMR ham handhelds before, and it's great to get a modern design at this price. It supports DMR/analog signals and connects well to local repeaters.
