The RB48D's AI noise reduction is optimized to filter out common site noise such as machinery, impact sounds and crowd chatter, while isolating the human voice. It is designed for demanding environments where standard radios struggle — for example manufacturing floors, construction sites, busy venues and airside operations where equipment noise is constant. It can be switched on or off with a short press of Side Key 2.
The RB48D is the DMR digital model: 512 channels, ARC4/AES encryption, AI noise reduction, a man down alert and dual digital/analog mode, and it is aimed at industrial, construction and security teams. The RB48 Plus is the GMRS analog model with 30 channels and 5W power for large properties and farms. The standard RB48 is the license-free FRS model with 22 channels, ideal for events, families and small teams. All three share the IP67 waterproof, dustproof and rugged construction.
The RB48D is a DMR digital radio operating on UHF 400–470 MHz, which is a licensed business/industrial band in most countries rather than a license-free consumer band. Where Motorola devices use the same encryption mode, the RB48D can interoperate with them normally, which lets teams phase in new radios instead of replacing a working fleet in one go. The 2000mAh battery provides at least 14 hours of continuous talk time and over 30 hours of standby, enough for a full shift without a battery swap. Charging takes under 4.2 hours with a 5V/2A supply or under 5.5 hours with 5V/1A. You can recharge over the USB Type-C port directly or use a desktop charging base, and multi-unit six-way and ten-way chargers are available for larger fleets.
The RB48D has a built-in angle sensor that detects abnormal tilting. If a worker falls, the radio automatically triggers an alert to notify teammates, and you can customize the alert method — for example a private alert or a voice alert. It is designed for high-risk and lone-worker scenarios such as construction, heavy industry, security patrols and remote sites.
The RB48D supports CPS programming, so you can set channels, zones, contacts, encryption keys and preset messages that can be recalled instantly on site. Programming is done over the USB Type-C port with a specific programming cable. The RB48D uses a 2.5mm single-pin audio interface, so it is compatible with the same 2.5mm single-pin earpieces and speaker microphones used across the RB48 series. For fleet use you can pair it with the RTC48P six-way or RTC48T ten-way multi-unit charger. It can also be ordered together with the RT97P repeater in bundle packages covering 4, 6, 10, 12 or 20 radios — a practical setup for large sites where handheld-to-handheld coverage is not enough.
