Yes. Both radios work on the shared 462-467 MHz UHF band. Set both to the same frequency and matching CTCSS/DCS code and they will communicate. Note that GMRS channels allow higher power, so range may differ between the two models.
Yes. The RB48 Plus comes with pre-set GMRS repeater channels. Connect to a local GMRS repeater — or a Retevis GMRS repeater station such as the RT97P — and your signal is retransmitted from a high point, multiplying coverage across large properties, valleys and multi-building sites.
