The RT97L is a full-duplex repeater with one receive and one transmit pair, so it relays one channel at a time: group 1 on channel 1 and group 2 on channel 5 would each need their own turn or their own repeater. CTCSS/DCS tones can still separate sub-teams on the same channel so they do not hear each other during routine work.

Yes, any analog GMRS radio programmed to match the repeater input and output pair and the CTCSS/DCS tones can relay through the RT97L, including small GMRS radios you may already own. Digital radios will not work on the analog RT97L. If you are mixing fleets, send us your radio list and we will confirm compatibility before you order.
